As a lady, I find those contents very annoying and disrespectful.

What even is funny about you muscular being wearing makeup two shades lighter than your face, a padded bra and clothes you're so obviously uncomfortable in??

And the voices pmo so much like bruh ewww

Anyway, this was such a beautiful read!❤️

Ikr? Just a weird mimicry of women, enforcing stereotypes that don't make sense.

Thank you Atiyyah❤️

Idk. I guess I never saw it that way. Most times, I just watch to laugh at how ridiculous they look. I don’t think Nigerian comedy, at least the ones I’ve seen, are layered per se(excluding maybe Maraji). They’re very surface level, the kind you watch to laugh at because of its absurdity. Not because it’s a particularly intelligent form of art.

I mean your sense of humor is different from that of others so saying that people should stop watching them is kinda(pardon moi) absurd too. Assuming people would like what you like is just absurd.

For example, you may like Kevin Hart. I find him to be overly loud and expressive.

I like Trevor Noah but some people do not.

That’s just the way it is.

Honestly, I wished I had the energy to address all the nuances in the newsletter. You make a strong point, which I totally agree with. I feel everyone should find whatever they want funny. But as a sane society we have to come to a consensus on some things. Whether it's Kevin Hart or Crazeclown, nobody should be laughing at a rape joke. Nobody.

Unfortunately, these niggas use concepts like rape, sexual abuse and violence to make jokes, and people fuel them. I hope you understand where I am coming from?

The one that upsets me is that Jayonair guy

Like you're a man, why are you doing an office skit as a woman?

I think that's even one of the respectful ones. He once said in an interview that he does it out of deep respect for his mum.

These worst part of you call these nonsense content/ creators out their viewer/fans would call you bitter and say you don't get the joke.

What joke?!!!

Some cosplay as prostitute who follows a guy home the guy have sex with them, not paying them, and threatens them. What's the joke in that?

What's funny?!!!

Their target audience will always find it funny, for reasons known to them and them alone. The issue is that there skits shed spotlight n real issues real women face daily, with no solution provided, just cheap laughs.

Thank you for reading Nmesoma❤️

Says it's an interlude, proceeds to go on a long rant. Wants to prove he's a 21st century feminist by calling out old material from Millennial comedians, then proceeds to dunk on Gen Z comedians cosplaying as women for likes. My question is who poured champagne in your garri, Mubarak? I thought we were generation letting-people-be, lol!

I don't know who keeps sending you to me, they no dey tire?😭

Say na "wants to prove", I can actually block you.

I am all for letting people be, only when what you do doesn't have a profound impact on people's lives. These "skits" that are funny to people make mockery of actual problems women go through, trivialising it and making it seem mundane. So yes, they poured garri into my champagne, big time.

Makes me remember when I was watching a Kevin Hart's reality show and laughing like crazy because the show is actually funny, my friend asked me what's so funny about the reality show.

The next minute, I caught her watching one of these comedians cosplaying as women and laughing with tears in her eyes.

I was confused. I mean, this is funny but what I was watching wasn't funny? 🤨

That part about laughing about women issues when it is portrayed by wig-wearing men is really touching because tell me why a woman's life,I mean her only life is suddenly very funny when a man wears a wig when it is something women have to live with and not just take off at the end of the day like a wig

Using everyday issues women face as a source of entertainment is terrible, basically because while it's a joke to you, there are real humans going through them.

I felt huge second hand embarrassment from watching that Bovi's special; I couldn't bring myself to finish it. It was disappointing because for a man like Bovi who is "exposed" and somewhat intellectual, I expected more. He should have evolved past that brand of comedy.

As for the skit makers, I avoid them like a plague. I'm not their target market.

Lmao the hypocrisy is crazy. They start barking like dogs when you call them gay, and bash people like Bobrisky and James Brown but they can wear makeup, act a 5 minutes skit while wearing a gown or iro and buba, edit it and post it for the entire Internet to see...

But sure they aren't colorful okay 😂
